Job Description

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

To design market right products for on-court basketball team and licensed apparel projects for elite athletes, and licensed NCAA and grassroots partners as part of the basketball performance apparel design team in cooperation with marketing and development.

Be an integral design and creative voice on the Basketball Performance Apparel Design Team to help develop licensed and team ranges season after season that celebrate the brand’s and each licensed and grassroots partner’s DNA all to help establish adidas Basketball as the credible performance and culturally relevant global basketball brand on and off the court.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Designer to drive performance on court design projects and translate into team, licensed and grassroots relevant products.
  • Design and develop creative solutions for assigned projects and present the designs in context to the established category seasonal direction, athlete and team insights, and licensed partners’ DNA.
  • Self-Manage own creative process and execute towards given design languages, and licensed partners’ needs within the category.
  • Execute design work according to the visual language of the brand as well as given Corporate Identity and licensed partners’ guidelines according to legal guidance.
  • Verbally present product ideas and details with clarity and efficacy.
  • Ensure efficient process and communication flow between design, marketing and development for all issues regarding the designed ranges and products.
  • Ensure proper deadline handover of technical and trim packs to development. Main duty is to submit all relevant information needed for the development process such as sketches, detail sketches, fabric and trim indication, artworks, and fits.
  • Ability to handle technical and trim packs with high level of software skill and time management.
  • Visualize ideas for products and ranges with a high degree of expertise.
  • Creating 2D and 3D concept representation, 2D and 3D assets, digital product information for an accurate development and decision-making process.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of performance sportswear design and fashion design
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strong ability to build thorough tech and trim packs for clear communication with development and factories
  • Ability to identify and utilize Trend Analysis & Consumer/Athlete Insights
  • Strong knowledge of product development, material and trims for assigned product ranges
  • High level of creative thinking, idea generating and execution
  • High level of curating strong mood boards
  • Knowledge and use of Adobe computer design software (Photoshop, Illustrator) to sketch accurate CADs
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Strong time management skills to gauge the appropriate the breadth and depth of their work to meet deadlines from research and execution
  • Works well in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong 3D skills and knowledge of virtual tools are required

APP tools: Clo3D, Browzwear, VStitcher or similar 3D fashion design tools

Requisite Education And Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree (B.A.) from a college or university, major Design or industrial product engineering
  • 3 years of practical experience in an apparel design environment
  • Proven experience with the entire design process (design steps, production/execution of design solution)
  • Passion for Adidas and its mission

  • The anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this position is $89,000 - $134,000. Actual salary will be based on various factors, such as a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills and competencies, proficiency for the role.
  • We officially returned to office in a hybrid work environment, working 3 days in office and 2 days remote. The working location of this position is Los Angeles, California.
