About Aerospace Sector 

Quartus is a key contributor to aerospace advancements, specializing in engineering simulation and custom hardware. We’ve played a vital role in a diverse range of optical systems, launch vehicle and spacecraft projects involving design, analysis, testing, and hardware assembly and integration. Our aerospace sector expertise also includes aircraft structural design, analysis, and testing, including support for FAA certifications. Quartus excels in commercial and defense aircraft applications, as well as custom optical systems like laser communications terminals and lidar LiDAR payloads with both aerial and space applications. 

What will you do? 

As a Software Engineer II you will develop software that meets the project and customer’s requirements as part of a cross-disciplinary team together with mechanical, hardwareoptical, and electrical engineers. You will gain exposure to new challenges that you have not seen before. 

Essential Job Functions:

• Design and develop software that integrates with hardware, control systems, and user interfaces
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver complete system solutions
• Apply modern design patterns and asynchronous programming to build reliable, scalable applications
• Test, debug, and validate software via unit and integration testing to ensure quality and performance
• Share your expertise through documentation and clear technical communication

Location 

Position is based in San Diego with a hybrid schedule.* 

*The hybrid work arrangement is subject to change based on business needs including but not limited to training, performance, or other operational requirements. Any physical location change may impact future employment.  

What are we looking for?

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
• 2-4 years of software development experience
• Experience with .NET C#, C/C++ required
• Experienced with user interface design (WPF, WinUI, etc.)
• Understanding of design principles, methodologies and patterns (OOP, MVVM, Producer/Consumer, etc.)
• Experience working with asynchronous programming (Async/Await, Futures, etc.)
• Demonstrate ability to compellingly present technical information to groups
• Must be a US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in aerospace or defense-related software development
• Knowledge and experience with communication protocols (UART, EtherCAT, UDP, TCP/IP, MODBUS, etc.)
• Experience designing and architecting software systems
• Experience testing software on real-world hardware

Compensation and Benefits 

Software Engineer II pay range: $78,279 - $127,907* 

*This range represents base pay. In addition, you may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
