Job Title: Stop Loss Consultant
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Stop Loss Consultant to join our client’s team and provide strategic guidance on risk and insurance solutions. This fully remote, direct-hire position involves collaborating with sales teams, brokers, and carrier partners to deliver tailored stop loss strategies for large employers and complex prospects. The role includes quarterly travel and focuses primarily on new business development, with occasional support for renewals.
Compensation:
• Up to $150,000 annually, plus bonus opportunities
Work Schedule:
• Monday through Friday, standard business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Stop Loss Consultant:
• Develop and implement risk and sales strategies for assigned cases in partnership with sales and management teams
• Identify and recommend stop loss solutions for large and complex employer groups, either directly or through broker support
• Collaborate with brokers and sales representatives to present stop loss options that complement broader health plan strategies
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stop loss carriers and vendor partners
• Provide consultative support on complex insurance solutions to ensure clear understanding across diverse audiences
• Contribute to both new business opportunities and renewal strategies as needed
Qualifications and Skills for the Stop Loss Consultant:
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience in lieu of degree
• 5+ years of experience with a health benefits agency, general agent, or similar environment, specifically in stop loss consulting
• Demonstrated expertise advising employers with 1,000+ employees on health benefits strategy
• Deep knowledge of stop loss insurance coverage and market practices
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to create business cases and evaluate options
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence outcomes
• Entrepreneurial mindset with creative problem-solving ability
• Willingness and ability to travel quarterly
